Andrew Mabry
Head Girls and Boys Volleyball Coach
Andrew came to Newport Harbor in Fall 2019 as a Social Studies teacher and volleyball coach. Andrew currently teaches AP US History and US History here at Newport Harbor. Before arriving in Newport, Andrew spent eight years as Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Orange Lutheran High School. During his tenure at Orange Lutheran, the Lancers accomplished many outstanding achievements, including a Trinity League Championship, numerous CIF-SS Quarterfinals appearances, and a CIF-SS Championship in 2017. They qualified for the CIF State Playoffs for the first time in program history. Andrew has been recognized with several distinctions, including CIF Coach of the Year, OC Register Coach of the Year, OCADA CIF Coaches With Character Award Winner, and coached in the OC All-Star Match in 2014 and 2017. While at Orange Lutheran, Andrew taught AP US History, World History, Government, and Economics. Andrew also has coached for Balboa Bay Volleyball Club since 2005.
Andrew graduated from Edison High School in 2005 as an All-League and All-CIF performer. And is also a member of Edison’s Athletics Hall of Fame. Andrew went on to begin coaching at Edison and was a part of the coaching staff for a CIF Championship in 2006. Andrew went on to play at Irvine Valley College and was a part of the 2008 State Championship Team. Andrew graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a BA in History and a Secondary Social Science Teaching Credential and earned a master's Degree from the National University Teaching.
Andrew is married to Taylor (NH Alumni), and they have two daughters, Riley and Payton. They currently live in Costa Mesa, CA.
Dan Glenn
Head Girls and Boys Beach Volleyball Coach
Dan Glenn came to Newport Harbor in 1987 as a Girls and Boys Volleyball Coach and a Social Studies Teacher. Since then, Coach Glenn has become synonymous with success and has been a fixture in the Newport Harbor Athletic Community. For over 25 years, Coach Glenn led t and boy’ and boys ’ programs to unprecedented success. He has helped the Newport Harbor teams win multiple CIF Championships and State Championships. Coach Glenn has also coached various Olympians at Newport Harbor, including Misty May-Treanor and April Ross.
Coach Glenn recently retired from teaching in the summer of 2021 after a teaching career at Newport Harbor that spanned four decades. He has built a legacy of competitive success while at Newport Harbor that is nationally recognized. Coach Glenn continues to serve as Head Girls Beach Volleyball Coach here at Newport Harbor and with Balboa Bay Volleyball Club. Coach Glenn is a proud Dad to Hailey, Jaden, Tegan, and Brogan.
Eric Vallely
Assistant Volleyball Coach
Eric has grown up in the Newport Beach community and is a proud alumni of Newport Harbor. During his time at Newport, Eric was a standout athlete in both the basketball and volleyball programs and was able to continue his volleyball career at UCLA. While at UCLA, Eric was a part of two NCAA National Championship teams. Eric has been a part of the Newport Harbor programs for many years, serving in many coaching roles for the girls and boys programs, including the 2019 CIF and State Champion Boys Teams. In the summer of 2019, Eric was named Head Boys Volleyball Coach here at Newport Harbor, and the boys have continued the grand tradition of success. The boys got off to a great start in the shortened 2020 season. He then won the 2021 Surf League Championship on the way to reaching the 2021 CIF-SS Division 1 Championship Match.
Eric led the boys to an incredible 2022 season. In that season, the boys won the CIF-SS Division 1 Championship and the CIF State So Cal Regional Championship and were named the National Champions by Max Preps. The Sailors also won the 2022 Surf League Championship. Following the 2022 season, Eric will remain an assistant coach with the girls and boys programs, freeing more time to pursue his many endeavors, including collegiate coaching, his business ventures, and time with his family.
Eric is a proud member of the Newport Harbor community with his wife, Suzanne, and daughter, Vivian (Newport Alumni 2022). Eric is passionate about surfing, photography, golf, and much more. Eric also coaches for Balboa Bay Volleyball Club and Vanguard University.
